There are a few basic things you, as a customer, should check before calling in for a service call.

• Are all your electrical breakers in the on position?
• Are both service switches in the on position? (typically one on piece of equipment and one at the top of the stairs.)
• Is your thermostat screen working and showing any data? (if it's blank, check batteries)
• Is your thermostat set to the desired mode? (heat/cool)
• Is the thermostat set above or below the room temperature?

No! There are new ways around having a common wire in most cases. However, we do prefer getting a common wire to the thermostat when it’s possible to avoid any complications down the road.
